Loving is a kind of music
We make a kind of song;
Our melodies entwine and
In your arms I do belong.

Treat me like a violin
You can play my strings anytime;
I hear your call from your very soul
Give me your heart and I'll give you mine.

The music plays oh so softly
Everybody whispers;
The tempo rises as do the voices
Lithely dancing round the disco.

Centuries across the world
Music has always been around;
The vibes are stirred up by the rythmns
Results show and astound.

Music Swims Back to Me

Wait Mister. Which way is home?
They turned the light out
and the dark is moving in the corner.
There are no sign posts in this room,
four ladies, over eighty,
in diapers every one of them.
La la la, Oh music swims back to me
and I can feel the tune they played
the night they left me
in this private institution on a hill.

Imagine it. A radio playing
and everyone here was crazy.
I liked it and danced in a circle.
Music pours over the sense
and in a funny way
music sees more than I.
I mean it remembers better;
remembers the first night here.
It was the strangled cold of November;
even the stars were strapped in the sky
and that moon too bright
forking through the bars to stick me
with a singing in the head.
I have forgotten all the rest.

They lock me in this chair at eight a.m.
and there are no signs to tell the way,
just the radio beating to itself
and the song that remembers
more than I. Oh, la la la,
this music swims back to me.
The night I came I danced a circle
and was not afraid.
Mister?

Music takes you down that memory lane
It marks you down the time;
The year the Beatles came out
Or the Everley Brothers rhymed.

**

The decades come and go
All marked by different sounds;
The countries where it comes from too
And all around the world resounds.

Songs take you to times and relay feelings
Immediately your feelings flood back;
Happiness and elation or heartbreak and tears
Parents and childhood just like kodak.

Elation, celebration and tears of happiness
They all suddenly return;
Its very strong and influential
Our hearts it is able to govern.

**

We smile, we laugh, we dance, we cry
No matter what we do;
It has this profound effect
On the likes of me and you

Music wakes you up
Or you can go to sleep;
It all depends upon the beat
It can also make you weep.

I prefer to bounce around
My body comes to life;
I'm not sure all agree on that
Especially the wife

Relieves the tension
Lets the blood flow round;
The kids all run and hide
Or try to push me to the ground.

The tribal interaction
That music can still create;
The shamens use it
Though much is in debate.

Soldiers use it whilst they march
Kids use it when they run;
Teams have their special tunes
Countries national anthems.

**

We all remember best the music we heard
In our teens and early twenties;
That's why rock and rollers
Now are in their sixties.

The same will be said for the young ones now
They'll be listening to all their stiff;
The children of that day
Will all be shouting that's enough!

That's not music nothing rhymes
You can't make out the words;
It sounds like a dead cat squealing
Or is it one for the birds.
