I am sweet and chewy; I have dark purple skin.
When you cut me open, I'm full of seeds within.
Figs come from Egypt, where it's always hot.
Try me fresh or dried - you'll like me a lot.
I've lots of calcium to keep your bones tough.
So let's all eat fig jam - I never get enough!

RED RUBIED POMEGRANATE

He hangs juicy red rubies in the halls of the pomegranate
and fastens little white bells in the jade pepper's bell towers.

He places nuts in the carved caverns of the black walnut
and sets a sea of coconut milk (stolen from no mother's calf)
inside a husk which can later become a cup.

Everywhere His creation is beautiful,
simple, of infinite variety,
causing great yield and little energy.

All shapes and sizes and smells too
Gods imagination is there for all to see;
Can you think of another color or taste
That he's missed for you and me.

I always loved apples but now I'm in trouble
Didn't look after my teeth enough;
So eat all your fruit and look after yourselves
Life without teeth sure is tough!

God wanted us to not just be healthy
But to have great joy in eating our food;
He wanted us also to be wealthy
In pleasure and happiness without which we're screwed.

So get those tastebuds going try all that you can
As the beauty and variety is endless;
The beauty that will then come from within
Will also be advantageous.

By their fruit you will know them
That's what Jesus said;
So what fruit have you born ask yourself
Before you're good and dead.

Is it love and laughter with good deeds plentiful
Or have you withered and grown none?
Our life is our most precious thing
After all is said and done

Apples are crunchy, red and round
They fall from trees onto the ground;
An orange is the color of its name
Peeling one is like a game.

Bananas are yellow, soft and long
Eat a bunch, you can't go wrong;
Strawberries are sticky, sweet and red
It's messy to eat them in your bed.

Blueberries are small and round and blue
They're squishy and lots of fun to chew;
Raspberries are red with lots of seeds
Raspberry plants look just like weeds.

Peaches are round with lots of fuzz
Eat them often just because;
Plums are purple and have a pit
It's fun to eat them while you sit.

Watermelons are juicy, sweet and pink
Spit your seeds into the sink.
Pineapples are prickly and grow in trees
Eating one attracts the bees.

Grapefruits are yellow, red and sour
You eat them in the breakfast hour;
Pears are yellow, green or brown
Pick them off the trees in town.

Fruit salad is great in any weather
Make a bowl to eat together

The Good Food Song
(Tune: "Old MacDonald Had A Farm")
Vegetables are good for me, EE I EE I O
And so I eat them happily, EE I EE I O
(Children take turns naming vegetables that they like)
With a carrot, carrot here, and a carrot, carrot there
Here a carrot, there a carrot
Everywhere a carrot, carrot.
Vegetables are good for me, EE I EE I O.

The Vegetable Song
(Tune: "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star")
Carrots, Peas, and Broccoli,
Vegetables are good for me.
For my snack and in my lunch,
Veggie sticks are great to munch.
Carrots, Peas, and Broccoli,
Vegetables are good for me.
